A Scottish-Inspired Celebration: Marcus & Ellima’s Wedding at Bistrotheque in BETHNAL GREEN

Bistrotheque is one of East London’s coolest wedding venues—tucked away in a quiet street, this industrial-chic restaurant is a hidden gem that offers incredible food, a sleek, modern aesthetic, and a buzzing atmosphere. It was the perfect spot for Marcus & Ellima’s wedding, bringing together their Scottish heritage with a love of great music, top-tier cocktails, and an all-night party vibe.

DJ Jon was on deck to curate a setlist that reflected the couple’s background and music taste, blending contemporary bangers with indie classics, Scottish anthems, and dancefloor fillers from across the decades.

A Unique Start to the Evening

Rather than opting for something overly sentimental, Marcus & Ellima kicked off the night with "You've Got The Love" by Florence & The Machine—an uplifting, euphoric choice that set the tone perfectly. Instead of a slow, traditional first dance, the couple invited everyone to join them straight away, getting the party started in style.

From there, the night rolled effortlessly through a mix of genres, featuring everything from Calvin Harris and CHVRCHES to classic singalongs like "500 Miles" by The Proclaimers", ensuring their Scottish roots were well represented.

A Dancefloor That Didn’t Stop

With a high-energy crowd that was up for anything, DJ Jon kept the floor moving with:

  • Big indie anthems – Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, and a dose of Oasis

  • Scottish classics – Biffy Clyro, Simple Minds, and a massive reaction to The Proclaimers

  • Dance bangers – Basement Jaxx, Faithless, and a bit of early 2000s Ministry of Sound magic

  • Throwback pop hits – Britney Spears, Robbie Williams, and Sugababes

The mix of modern and nostalgic tracks worked perfectly, keeping every generation on their feet throughout the night.

A Fitting Finale

As the night wound down, Marcus & Ellima had one last surprise up their sleeve. The penultimate track, "Loch Lomond" by Runrig", had the Scottish guests in full voice, arms around each other in a proper Highland-style sendoff. But the final track of the night was something that everyone could get behind—"Wonderwall" by Oasis". An emotional, arms-in-the-air moment that brought the wedding to a perfect close.
