A Night to Remember: John & Sophie’s Wedding at Devonshire Terrace, London
John & Sophie’s wedding at Devonshire Terrace was an incredible day, set inside the stunning glass-canopied venue in the heart of the City of London. The music the couple selected perfectly matched the mood—a mix of timeless disco, funk, and upbeat contemporary hits and they gave us a clear brief to make sure that as many people as possible were kept dancing all night, regardless of their age! And with RedLine DJs own, DJ Vicki Lou on the decks this was never going to be a problem!
The evening kicked off with "Baby I'm Yours" by Arctic Monkeys, setting a romantic, retro-tinged tone to kick things off. As you can see from the picture above, the couple opted for a couple of high-powered confetti cannons for their first dance (sourced and supplied by us, of course!) to be set off right after the first chorus. This made for an amazing, unexpected moment as well as meaning the couple ended up with some incredible pics. Straight after the first dance, the couple asked for Shalamar’s ‘70s classic,"A Night to Remember" to be played, which nicely changed up the energy and the momentum and had everyone grooving under the twinkling lights, right from the start..
As the evening progressed, songs like "Got to Be Real" by Cheryl Lynn and "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry kept the party going strong. But it wasn't just about the old-school hits—more modern favourites like "Hey Ya!" by Outkast and "Rock Your Body" by Justin Timberlake ensured everyone was on their feet in the early stages.
Luther Vandross’ dancefloor banger,"Never Too Much" ushered us into the 80s midway through the set, while Prince’s "I Wanna Be Your Lover" also added a fun and flirty vibe to proceedings.
As the night climbed towards its climax, DJ Vicki Lou spun some cross-generational crowd-favourites such as "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston. These iconic tracks kept the dancefloor buzzing and kept as many age groups as possible on their feet.
The couple also wanted a dash of contemporary tracks, and songs like Drake’s "Nice For What", Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” and Kylie Minogue’s "Padam Padam" brought a fresh twist to the mix and a bit of modern flair to the evening.
As the night drew to a close, the double-whammy of The Source & Candi Staton’s “You’ve got the Love” into Sister Sledge & Chic’s “Thinking of You” provided the perfect ending, leaving guests with a lasting impression and a burning desire to keep the party going at a local bar (so we’re told!).
John & Sophie’s wedding wasn’t just a celebration of them, but also of great music that resonated with all ages. At Redline DJs, we always aim to create a playlist that’s personal, and this wedding was truly special.
Congratulations to John & Sophie—thank you for letting us be a part of your big day!
