WEDDING DJ THE PEASANT, CLERKENWELL

Rachel & StephAn’s Wedding at The Peasant, Clerkenwell – A Transatlantic Party Done Right

There’s a reason The Peasant in Clerkenwell is one of London’s most loved wedding venues. A proper Victorian pub with a killer atmosphere, an epic drinks selection, and plenty of space to party—this place is built for a wedding with serious energy. And with Rachel & Stephan bringing together friends and family from both sides of the Atlantic, their big day was always going to be something special.

With DJ Jon on the decks, an eclectic playlist, and a crowd that came ready to go all night, this was a wedding party to remember.

A Soulful Start to a Massive Night

Rachel & Stephan kicked things off with a seriously cool first dance choice—"Oh How Happy" by Shades of Blue. A deep-cut 60s soul classic, it was the perfect feel-good track to set the tone for the night. The moment the chorus hit, the dancefloor filled, and that energy never dipped for the rest of the night.

From there, it was a full-speed ride through decades of soul, funk, rock, R&B, and indie bangers. The Peasant’s upstairs dancefloor space turned into a wall-to-wall party, fuelled by an eclectic mix of tunes that covered both UK and US dancefloor gold.

Big Tunes That Went Off

This was a high-energy, all-in crowd, and every genre had its moment. Some of the biggest highlights included:

  • "September" – Earth, Wind & Fire – You cannot go wrong with this one. Full wedding takeover.

  • "Teenage Dirtbag" – Wheatus – Every word screamed.

  • "Empire State of Mind" – Jay-Z & Alicia Keys – A huge moment for the American side of the room.

  • "Common People" – Pulp – The UK crowd went full festival mode for this one.

Curveballs That Worked

Every wedding has a few surprises that absolutely take over the night, and this was no different:

  • "Take Me Home, Country Roads" – John Denver → A full pub singalong moment.

  • "Digital Love" – Daft Punk → A deep cut from Daft Punk that always catches people off guard but works brilliantly when dropped at the right moment.

  • "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" – Jet → An early-2000s indie banger that isn’t a typical wedding tune but absolutely slaps when the energy is high.

A Huge Finish

The last hour of this wedding was absolute chaos in the best possible way. A mix of 00s indie, rock singalongs, and big US anthems kept the dancefloor packed until the final track.

For the last song of the night, Rachel & Stephan chose "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" by Elton John—a slow-burn classic that had arms around shoulders, drinks in the air, and some serious end-of-the-night emotions.
